Scope of the processing of personal data
We process our users’ personal data only as far as necessary to ensure that our website functions correctly and to provide our content and services. Our users’ personal data are processed regularly only with the user’s consent. One exception is cases where obtaining prior consent is not possible for practical reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by law or we have a legitimate interest in processing the data.
Purposes of data processing
We process your personal data for the performance of the contract and for the purposes described in this privacy policy.
Transfer of your data
Your personal data are not transferred to third parties for purposes other than those specified. We transfer your personal data to third parties only if:
- you have given your explicit consent,
- the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you,
- the processing is necessary for the fulfilment of a legal obligation,
- the processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests and there is no reason to assume that you have an overriding legitimate interest in your data not being transferred,
- the data are being transferred to a contracted processor which we have contractually obliged to comply with data protection regulations and to guarantee the security of the data. We also contractually oblige our contracted processors to process your data only for the purposes of the performance of the contract.
Your data may be transferred abroad in connection with our use of service providers, in particular if one of the service providers we use has its headquarters abroad. Your data can also be transferred to countries, in particular the USA, which do not have adequate data protection regulations. By entering into contracts (in particular involving the EU standard contractual clauses) or by choosing a contractual partner certified according to the Swiss-US Privacy Shield, we ensure compliance with the legal regulations.
Erasure of the data
We follow the principles of data avoidance and data minimisation. Therefore, we store your personal data only for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes referred to here or to comply with one of the many retention periods specified by law. When the purpose no longer applies or the retention period has expired, the data are routinely anonymised or erased in accordance with legal regulations.
The rights of the data subject
Using the contact details given here, you can exercise the following rights at any time, subject to the legal restrictions (for example, statutory retention periods):
- access to your personal data that we have stored and information about its processing,
- rectification of incorrect personal data,
- erasure of your data that we have stored,
- restriction of data processing, unless we are not yet permitted to erase your data because of legal obligations,
- objection to our processing of your data,
- if you have given us your consent, you can withdraw your consent to future processing at any time.
SSL encryption
We use the most advanced encryption technology (for example, SSL) via HTTPS to ensure that your data remain secure during transmission. You can identify an encrypted connection by the fact that the text in the address bar of your browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and a padlock symbol appears in the address bar. SSL encryption prevents the data that you transfer to us from being accessed by third parties.

Use of cookies
When users access our website, they are informed by a banner about the use of cookies for analysis purposes and referred to this privacy policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are used on our website. They are small files which are stored on your computer or end device when you visit or use one of our web pages. Cookies store specific settings about your browser. They also store data about the interaction with our website via your browser. When a cookie is activated, it is given an identification number (cookie ID), which allows your browser to be identified and the information in the cookie to be used.
Most of the cookies that we use are temporary session cookies. These are automatically deleted by your computer or mobile device at the end of the browser session. We also use persistent cookies. These remain stored on your computer or mobile device after the end of the browser session. Depending on the type of persistent cookie in question, they can be stored on your computer or mobile device for between one month and ten years and are automatically disabled at the end of the specified period.
Why do we use cookies?
The cookies we use enable various functions to be offered on our website. For example, cookies help to store your country and language settings across different pages in a browser session.
In addition, the use of cookies allows us to record and analyse the behaviour of users on our website. This enables us to design our website to be more user friendly and effective and to make your visit to our website as pleasant as possible. Cookies also allow us to show you information on our website that is specially tailored to your interests.
Which data do we collect?
Cookies record usage information, such as the date and time when you accessed our website, the name of the page you visited, the IP address of your device and the operating system it uses. For instance, cookies also provide information about which of our pages you visited and the name of the website that led you to our website.
Third-party cookies
The cookies or equivalent technological features stored on your computer or mobile device can also come from independent third parties. We describe third-party cookies separately in our online privacy policy.
Disabling cookies
You can change your browser settings to meet your needs and, for example, block third-party cookies or all cookies. Please note that disabling cookies may prevent you from using all the functions of this website. We describe third-party cookies separately in our online privacy policy.

With your consent, we use the open source software Matomo to analyse and statistically evaluate the use of the website. Cookies are used for this purpose. The information obtained about website use is transmitted exclusively to servers in Germany and summarised in pseudonymous usage profiles. We use the data to evaluate the use of the website. The data collected is not passed on to third parties.
The IP addresses are anonymised (IP masking), so that an allocation to individual users is not possible.
The data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. a DSGVO. We are thus pursuing our legitimate interest in optimising our website for our external presentation.
You can revoke your consent at any time by deleting the cookies in your browser or changing your data protection settings.
Use of Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google LL.C., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). The statistics we obtain allow us to improve our offering and make our website more interesting for you as a user. This website also uses Google Analytics to carry out a cross-device analysis of visitor flows based on a user ID. If you have a Google user account, you can disable the cross-device analysis of your website use via “My data”, “Personal data”.
The IP address transferred by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not aggregated with other data held by Google. Please note that on this website the code “_anonymizeIp();” has been added to Google Analytics to ensure that IP addresses are recorded anonymously. This means that IP addresses are truncated before being processed and cannot therefore be associated with an individual person. If the data collected about you includes a personal reference, this is immediately excluded and the personal data are erased without delay.
The full IP address may be transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there only in exceptional cases. Google will use this information on behalf of the website operator to analyse your use of our website, to create reports on the activities within the website and to provide additional services to the website operator relating to the use of our website and of the internet. You have the right to object to these user profiles being created. To exercise this right, you must approach Google.
You can find further information about the purpose and scope of the data collection and processing by the plug-in provider in the provider’s privacy policy. Newsletter
On our website you can subscribe to a free newsletter. When you subscribe to the newsletter, the data you enter in the subscription form (last name, first name, e-mail address) is sent to us. We ask for your consent to your data being processed during the subscription process. We need a valid e-mail address for the subscription to function. To make sure that the subscription is actually being set up by the owner of the e-mail address, we use the double opt-in procedure. This involves logging the subscription to the newsletter, the sending of a confirmation e-mail and the receipt of the response. Other data are not collected or are collected only on a voluntary basis. You can cancel your subscription to the newsletter at any time. There is an “Unsubscribe” link in every newsletter for this purpose.

If you enter data for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter (for example, your e-mail address), these data are stored on Campaign Monitor’s servers in Australia.
By subscribing to our newsletter, you also agree to certain actions being analysed. These include identifying whether the newsletter was opened, when it was opened and which links were clicked on. Although this information can be assigned to individual recipients of the newsletter, neither we nor Campaign Monitor will attempt to track individual users. The purpose of the evaluations is to enable us to tailor the information and offers in our newsletter more effectively to the recipients’ individual interests.
You can find more information in the Campaign Monitor Pty Ltd. privacy policy: https://www.campaignmonitor.com/policies/.

In order to present our content correctly and make it visually appealing across all browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries such as Google Web Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. If your browser does not support Google Web Fonts or does not allow access, content will be displayed in a default font.
The privacy policy of the library operator Google can be found here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy.
Embedded YouTube videos (privacy-enhanced mode)
On some pages of our website we directly embed YouTube videos. This means that content from the YouTube website is shown in part of your browser window. However, you can only access the YouTube videos by clicking on them separately.
YouTube content is only embedded in privacy-enhanced mode. This mode is provided by YouTube and ensures that YouTube does not initially store any cookies on your device.
As soon as you start an embedded video by clicking on it, privacy-enhanced mode allows YouTube to store only those cookies on your device that contain no personally identifiable data, unless you are currently logged into a Google service. You can prevent these cookies from being stored by changing the settings in your browser and using browser extensions.
